In
Stoddard's Footsteps Book - Summer
2008
Bowie
has followed in the photographic footsteps of turn-of-the-century
Adirondack pioneer Seneca Ray Stoddard, for a new coffee table
book, scheduled for release this coming spring. Bowie has
photographed, as closely as possible, from the exact locations
of this famed black and white shooter, comparing the landscapes,
cityscapes and people of today with those of over 100 years
ago. The changes may surprise you. This project grew out of
an assignment published in the November/December '02 issue
of Adirondack
Life &
on a 2005 exhibit at The Chapman Museum in Glens Falls, NY.
The program is now available as a traveling exhibit. Bowie
has also developed a new multimedia presentation on this fascinating
project. To reserve a personalized copy of the book or to
inquire about having a presentation at your facility, please

Bowie
has completed photographing and writing a new coffee table
book on the wild and varied beauty of the Adirondack seasons.
He delves into the subtleties and iconic symbols of each season
and reveals spectacular comparisons of scenes photographed
in different seasons. It is slated for release in autumn 2008.
Mark is in the process of producing a multimedia show based
on the book. To reserve a personalized copy of the book or

St.
Regis Canoe Wilderness
Bowie
is currently on assignment for Adirondack Life to photograph
the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness for a feature scheduled to
appear in a summer 2010 issue. This is a wildly beautiful
region has been set aside for motorless adventures. It contains
58 bodies of water and hundreds of miles of pristine shoreline.
Bowie will pond-hop through the backcountry to bring back
images of these remote and beautiful places.
Glacial
Features of the Northern Adirondack Landscape
Bowie
is returning to his formal training as a geologist for this
special feature scheduled to run in the May/June 2009 issue
of Adirondack Life. Around 10,000 years ago, this region
was covered by nearly a mile of ice. When the glaciers retreated
they left behind telltale signs of their passage, including
eskers, drumlins, kames, kettle lakes and ponds, moraines,
and more. Some of these deposits are obscured by vegetation
so are best seen by air. Bowie will fly over the region, following
the sinuous ridges of eskers and other features for dramatic
birds-eye views of them.
Going
Wild About Nordic Skating
Bowie
photographed and authored for an article for Adirondack
Life on the relatively new sport of "wild"
or nordic skating. Skaters use long blades mounted with cross-country
ski-style bindings to glide smoothly across the region's lakes
& ponds. It's invigorating & liberating, & the
sport is attracting new participants rapidly. The feature
appeared in the March/April 2008 issue.
McRorie
Lake - Cedarlands Easement
Bowie
photographed the spectacular new state property at McRorie
Lake, in the central Adirondack region for an article written
by acclaimed author and paddler Chris Jerome, which appeared
in the 2007 Annual Guide of Adirondack
Life magazine.
